Dr. Vivek Jawali is a distinguished cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon with over 39 years of experience. He has performed more than 18,000 cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries. Dr. Jawali pioneered India's first beating heart bypass surgery in 1992 and the first minimally invasive bypass surgery (MIDCAB) in 1994. In 1999, he performed the country's first awake cardiac surgery without general anesthesia or ventilator support. Notably, in 2002, he conducted the world's first awake open-heart surgery involving triple bypass with aortic valve replacement on a 74-year-old patient.

Dr. Jawali is a founding member of the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgeons (ISMICS) and serves on the editorial board of its journal, Innovations in Cardiac Surgery. He has held prominent positions, including President of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS) in 2008, and is a council member of the Asian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons. His dedication to advancing cardiac surgery has significantly contributed to the evolution of minimally invasive techniques and improved patient outcomes in India and globally.
